It was another remarkable achievement recorded in the aspect of tax awareness raising as Osun Federation of Informal Workers Organizations of Nigeria (FIWON) declared their support for Osun Government in raising the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the State.

The allegiant support was made during a day training organized by Osun Internal Revenue Service to train the volunteers among the members of Federation of Informal Workers Organizations of Nigeria (FIWON) on what they are supposed to know on tax related issues before they embark on tax awareness creation exercise.

While addressing the participants from various informal workers’ section like tailoring, Hair Dressing, Barbing and electrician among others who by passion joined hands to consolidate on tax evangelism template of Board of Osun Internal Revenue, the Secretary to the Board of Osun Internal Revenue, Mrs. Oluwatosin Falomo appreciated the participants especially for the support and interest they have in Gboyega Oyetola’s led administration which has shown in their large turn up to the training.

According to her, ‘the training was organized to make them to be more knowledgeable in tax related issues so that whenever they are engaged in tax awareness creation, it would serve as a guidance to them and at the same time the training was aimed at increasing the level of voluntary compliance among tax payers with its attendant effect on shoring up of the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the State.

She stressed furthered that the Internally Generated Revenue has been used to put assorted developmental projects in the State and these are conspicuous to all eyes to see, this forms part of the need for all and sundry to rally round the government by paying their taxes as and when due.

Also speaking in the training was the Director, Income Tax, Mr. Wasiu Olaitan. He made reference to some unprecedented achievements made so far in the State with the help of tax payment especially in the aspect of developmental projects. These achievements alone he said, beckon for passionate interest of every taxable adult in the State to do it right by way of their voluntary compliance.

In his remarks, the State Coordinator, Federation of Informal Workers Organizations of Nigeria (FIWON), Comrade Ibrahim Olayinka on behalf of the members gave their readiness to continue to support the Government by contributing their quota towards making Osun financially independent.
